Featured Resident: Alyssa Kirkman
Alyssa, her husband Conor, and their beautiful dog, Pax, live down on 7th street, just blocks away from the Rivermarket. She too, was cornered at our holiday party. Thank you Alyssa for offering to be featured. I think we will all agree that she’s a wonderful neighbor. Here’s what she had to say:
"My name is Alyssa Kirkman, and Conor and I have been married for five years now. We've had Pax (our greyhound) since last March. I grew up in Montana, but have been in Arkansas since coming down here for college, minus for the two years Conor and I lived in the Czech Republic. I am currently in grad school, studying to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. I will graduate in May, and I currently intern at Baptist Health Behavioral Services Clinic. I used to work at the Historic Arkansas Museum before I started my internship.
Besides writing papers and reading textbooks, my hobbies include ceramics, embroidery and cross-stitch, and skiing whenever I get the chance to travel north again. I have a bit of a side hustle with my mom and sister in selling decorated cookies. We moved to downtown Little Rock after living in the Czech Republic looking for a similar walking-around feel that we had there. We love being able to walk to work and restaurants and parks. I have several favorite spots downtown.
We love to ride bikes along the river walk, and I walk our dog to MacArthur dog park several a times a week in good weather. I also enjoy second Friday art nights at the local museums (particularly the Historic Arkansas Museum), as well as the classes offered at the Arkansas Arts Center. Lost Forty, Three Fold Noodles, Andina Cafe, Community Bakery, Gus's Fried Chicken, Hanaroo, and Zeteo are some of my favorite places to eat and drink. For 2018, I'm most looking forward to graduating in May with an M.S. and Ed.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and getting started in my career. If I could vacation anywhere in the world right now, I think I would like to go back to Europe and visit old friends there, as well as the cities of Prague, Budapest, and Salzberg. I would especially like to visit Plitvice Lakes National Park (Croatia) and Lake Bled (Slovenia), since we never quite made it there while we lived in Europe. So that's us! Say hi if you ever see us walking around!"
